Aden Duale Takes Charge as Health Cabinet Secretary

Aden Duale has officially taken over as the Cabinet Secretary for Health, following his reassignment from the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry.

Duale assumed office on April 1, 2025, during a handover ceremony held at the Ministry’s headquarters in Nairobi.

Speaking at the event, Duale pledged to strengthen healthcare services and address existing challenges within the sector.

He emphasized the need for efficiency and collaboration, calling on ministry officials and stakeholders to work together in achieving the government's healthcare agenda.

Duale’s move to the Health Ministry marks his third cabinet position in two years, having previously served as the CS for Defence and later for Environment.

His appointment to the Health docket has sparked mixed reactions, with some questioning the frequent changes while others express optimism about his leadership.

The outgoing Health CS, Deborah Mlongo Barasa, wished Duale success in his new role and expressed confidence that the ministry would continue to make progress under his leadership.
