Energy CS Opiyo Wandayi Addresses Justin Muturi to Keep off Security Matters

After the Public Service counterpart Justin Muturi linked the National Intelligence Service (NIS) to cases of abductions that have been widely condemned in the country, Energy CS Opiyo Wandayi told Muturi to keep security affairs of the country.

Wandayi said institutions such as NIS should not be attacked by people like Muturi who sit in the cabinet with President William Ruto.

He said government officials with personal issues should decist from attacking security organs.

“Institutions like NIS that safeguard the national security should be cushioned from attacks. I tell Muturi to follow the correct channel as a leader,” Wandayi said.

Speaking on Friday during the launch of the Last Mile Connectivity at Manyala village in Suba South constituency in Homa Bay County, Wandayi asked Muturi to look for ways of addressing issues when aggrieved.

He was accompanied by National Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi and Awendo MP Walter Owino.

Muturi claimed that his son Leslie Muturi was abducted and released by NIS officers during last year’s Gen Zs protests against the national government.

The CS reported to police that he got help from President Ruto who called NIS Director General Noordin Haji before his son was released.

Wandayi said the whole nation was surprised when Muturi made the statement.

The Energy CS said it is improper and unfair for leaders to criticize institutions such as NIS.

“If we have personal issues, please let us get ways of addressing them. Let’s keep off institutions that safeguard our national security,” he said.

He said the role of CSs is to work, adding that they should use their positions in government to deliver services to Kenyans.
