Gachagua Speaks Against Martha Koome's Alleged Removal

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has raised concerns over an alleged plan to remove Chief Justice Martha Koome from office. 
Speaking in an interview on Sunday, February 9, Gachagua claimed that there was a plan that had been hatched to remove Koome from office after his impeachment. 
"Our young people have told me that I was wrong to say they should keep quiet after my impeachment. They told me that moving forward, they will talk in the language Ruto understands - and I agree with them. We know there is a plan to hound Martha Koome out of office, the young people have told me they will put the country on a standstill," he said.
Gachagua also spoke of alarming threats to his own safety, claiming that plans had been set to have him arrested and poisoned. 
"They have also been planning to arrest and poison me, our people have told me – and I agree with them that hell will break loose," he warned.
Gachagua also declared that the Mt. Kenya region would not support Ruto or partner with him, accusing the president of conning and humiliating the region.
"President Ruto conned us and has humiliated this community. We will never support Ruto; we will never partner in politics and we will never vote for him," he said.
