Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa has slammed Senator Boni Khalwale after he launched a toilet in Kakamega town.
"The role of a senator is not to go and open toilets. Yesterday I saw our senator, Khalwale, going to town saying he is there to unveil a toilet.
“The role of a senator is to defend devolution. Mr. Khalwale, go to the Senate and advocate for funds to come to the county. Do not go and open toilets when you don't even know who built them,” said Governor Barasa.
Senator Khalwale on Monday, April 7, presided over the opening of the Muliro Gardens Ico-toilet in Kakamega town.
Speaking during the launch, Khalwale accused Governor Barasa of attempting to snatch the facility from people living with disabilities in Kakamega and gift it to his relatives.
The Kakamega Senator noted that the High Court issued an order for the toilet to be opened, and Barasa moved to the Court of Appeal, but his petition to halt the launch of the facility was declined.
