MP Peter Salasya Attacked and Ejected from Nyayo Stadium.

Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya was forcibly removed from Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday during the FIFA World Cup qualifier match between Kenya's Harambee Stars and Gabon.

The MP was attacked by a section of rowdy attendees, leading to a chaotic scene that required security intervention.

Videos circulating online show Salasya being confronted by spectators, with some throwing objects at him before security personnel stepped in to escort him out of the stadium.

The motive behind the attack remains unclear, but some in the crowd were heard chanting slogans demanding respect for political figures, suggesting a possible political undertone to the incident.

In response, Salasya took to social media, stating that he had chosen to remain peaceful despite having "options" to retaliate.

His party, the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K), condemned the attack, terming it an "unfortunate" and "organized" act by political opponents.

This is not the first time the outspoken legislator has faced public hostility. In November 2023, he was attacked and ejected from a church event by youths allegedly supporting Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa.

Meanwhile, the football match ended in disappointment for Kenyan fans, as Harambee Stars suffered a 2-1 defeat to Gabon.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored twice for the visitors, dashing Kenya's hopes of securing crucial qualification points.
