AXEL TUANZEBE SUES MANCHESTER UNITED OVER ALLEGED MEDICAL NEGLIGENCE

Former Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe has filed a clinical negligence lawsuit against the club, alleging that incorrect or negligent medical advice during his time at Old Trafford severely impacted his career.
According to court filings, the 27-year-old, now playing for Burnley, claims the club's medical team failed to properly manage and treat a series of injuries that plagued his development between 2017 and 2023. The lawsuit, which has been lodged at the High Court, accuses United of mishandling his rehabilitation process, contributing to prolonged fitness issues and lost playing opportunities.
Tuanzebe’s injury troubles began in 2019, starting with a hip injury sustained during warm-up ahead of a Premier League match against Liverpool. He would go on to suffer multiple setbacks, including hamstring, foot, and thumb injuries, many of which required extended spells on the sidelines. The defender alleges that poor medical decisions and misdiagnoses at United worsened his condition.
Despite high expectations after captaining youth sides and earning praise for early senior performances, Tuanzebe made only 37 senior appearances for the club. He left United as a free agent in 2023 and later joined Ipswich Town, where he enjoyed a career revival that helped secure the club’s promotion to the Premier League. He signed for Burnley in June 2025.
Neither Manchester United nor Tuanzebe’s legal representatives have publicly commented on the ongoing case. However, the suit has reignited debate over injury management protocols in elite football clubs and the long-term effects of medical decisions on young players’ careers.
The court is expected to schedule a preliminary hearing in the coming weeks.
