GAMBIA THRASHES KENYA 3-1 AT KASARANI STADIUM

Harambee Stars conceded three goals in the first half of their World Cup qualifier at Kasarani. It was a half to forget for Kenya, who began with strong intent but failed to make the most of their early momentum.
Kenya began the match with great intensity, creating an early opportunity to score. In the fourth minute, William Lenkupae took a powerful shot that narrowly missed the post. Harambee Stars maintained their early pressure in the first half, forcing Baboucarr Gaye into several key saves. In the 10th minute, goalkeeper Byrne Omondi was forced to concede a corner after a powerful shot from outside the box.
From the resulting corner, Sheriff Sinyan powered in a free header to give the Scorpions the lead. In the 16th minute, a loose pass gifted Brighton's Yankubah Minteh an opportunity to shoot, but his effort was well saved by Omondi.
Captain Michael Olunga's header was saved by Gaye in the 20th minute, Kenya's best chance since going down 1-0. In the 26th minute, Minteh doubled the Scorpions' lead with a delicate finish, following a brilliant through pass. The Gambia added a third through Musa Barrow in the 38th minute to all but end Kenya's World Cup hopes. Benni McCarthy was stunned on the bench after the Gambia went 3-0 up. The first half ended with Gambia leading 3-0.
In the second half the hosts made two changes with the hopes of making an incredible comeback. In the 81st minute, Ryan Ogam pulled one back for Kenya following a long pass. Kenya's efforts to mount a comeback fell short, leaving their World Cup dream in ruins.
