NAPOLI TARGET MAN UNITED’S RASMUS HOJLUND AFTER LUKAKU INJURY

Manchester United have received a significant boost in their efforts to offload Rasmus Hojlund this summer, with Napoli now eying the striker as a potential signing. The Italian club is in urgent need of a new center forward following Romelu Lukaku’s muscle injury, which is expected to sideline the Belgian for around three months. This development has prompted Napoli to explore alternatives in the transfer market. Napoli are considering a move for Hojlund, who is currently valued at 40 million euros by United.

While the Red Devils are open to a permanent transfer, they may also consider a loan deal under suitable conditions. Hojlund endured a difficult 2024-25 campaign, scoring just four Premier League goals in over 30 appearances. Despite the backing of manager Ruben Amorim, the 22-year-old struggled with confidence, often being physically dominated by defenders and failing to gel with his teammates. Initially not part of United’s group of players expected to leave, Marcus Rashford, Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, and Tyrell Malacia, Hojlund now appears to have fallen out of favor as well. He was left on the bench in United’s final pre-season game and omitted entirely from the match day squad for their Premier League opener against Arsenal.

With the summer arrival of Benjamin Sesko pushing him further down the pecking order, Hojlund faces limited opportunities at Old Trafford. A move to Napoli could offer him a needed fresh start and a chance to reignite the form that earned him his big money switch from Atlanta in 2023.
