RASHFORD GETS OFF THE MARK FOR HIS NEW CLUB BARCELONA

Marcus Rashford is off the mark as a Barcelona player, with the Manchester United outcast registering his first goal since completing a loan transfer. Having tumbled down the pecking order at Old Trafford, with Ruben Amorim deeming him surplus to requirements, Rashford has secured another switch away from Manchester. He impressed at Aston Villa last season before suffering an untimely injury.
Barcelona were happy to present Rashford with an opportunity to prove his worth again at the highest level, with the Liga champions putting a season-long deal in place that includes the option for a permanent transfer in 2026.
Rashford has settled in alongside Lamine Yamal and Co during pre-season, with the Blaugrana heading to Asia. Having previously lined up against ex-United team-mate Jesse Lingard and FC Seoul, his latest outing came in a meeting with Daegu.
Barca proved to be far too strong in that contest, with Rashford putting them five goals in front just past the hour mark. The 27-year-old delivered a composed finish as he confidently found the bottom corner from 12 yards out.
Rashford and Barcelona will return to Catalunya for the annual Joan Gamper Trophy on Sunday, with Serie A side Como - who are managed by Cesc Fabregas - set to be faced before the 2025-26 La Liga season gets underway.
