Police in Mumias West, Kakamega County, have arrested a 26-year-old man in connection with trafficking cannabis.
The National Police Service (NPS) reported on Saturday, September 20, 2025, that the suspect was intercepted the previous day along the Bungoma–Mumias road at Lukoye village. The operation followed intelligence leads.
During the arrest, officers recovered 40 brooms of cannabis sativa, which were taken as exhibits.
The suspect is being held in custody as investigators finalise the case. He is expected to appear in court to answer to charges of trafficking narcotics.
According to NPS, the arrest demonstrates ongoing efforts by security agencies to disrupt drug trafficking. The service is urging the public to work closely with police by reporting any suspicious activities that could aid in dismantling criminal networks.
