YAMAL EYES MULTIPLE BALON D'ORs

At just 18 years old, Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal is already being spoken of as one of football’s brightest stars — and he’s not shy about setting lofty ambitions for himself.

Having made his professional debut at only 15, Yamal has since gone on to feature in 109 matches for Barça, tallying 27 goals and 37 assists. Much of that impact came last season, when his creativity and consistency in the latter stages helped Barcelona secure an outstanding treble. His performances have placed him firmly in the spotlight ahead of the Ballon d’Or gala in Paris on September 22, where he is among the frontrunners.

Speaking on Resonancia de Corazon, a podcast hosted by José Ramón de la Morena, Yamal revealed that he is not simply satisfied with the prospect of lifting the award once.

“I don’t dream of winning one Ballon d’Or, but I dream of winning many of them,” he said.

The teenager explained that he sees himself capable of following in the footsteps of Barcelona legends like Lionel Messi, who collected the accolade seven times.

“I believe I am a player capable of achieving that, and if I don’t achieve it, it will be because I didn’t do things the right way, not because I didn’t want to,” Yamal noted.

“So, I dream of having many of them, and when the day comes that I get there, I will be very happy. But I will keep winning more, winning with my team and everything,” he added.

Yamal’s path to his first Ballon d’Or won’t be without resistance. Former Barça teammate Ousmane Dembélé is also a leading contender after a dazzling season at PSG, where he inspired the club to its first-ever Champions League trophy while completing a historic treble.

For now, all eyes are on Paris — where an 18-year-old with a fearless mindset could take the first step toward realizing his dream of “not one, but many” Ballon d’Ors. Despite Dembélé being nominated as number one for the epic accolade, Yamal's fans still believe that their Espanola magnifico still has enough time to secure more of these in the subsequent seasons.
