Drama unfolded on Friday in Kutus town, Kirinyaga County as angry residents demanded justice after a man allegedly severed another man's genitals over a Ksh 50 debt.
The victim, who is currently receiving treatment at Kerugoya Referral Hospital, reportedly had a confrontation with a local butcher over the unpaid amount on Thursday evening.
According to eyewitnesses, the businessman dragged the victim into his shop during the altercation and proceeded to mutilate him.
Anthony Njora, a local resident, recounted that the injured man, identified as Muthii, staggered to his workplace, bleeding profusely, before collapsing.
His employer quickly advised that he be taken to the nearest dispensary for first aid. He was later referred to Kerugoya Referral Hospital, where he is now fighting for his life.
The shocking incident sparked outrage among residents, who threatened to take matters into their own hands if the suspect was not arrested. The escalating tension forced police officers to fire in the air to disperse the angry crowd.
