The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) has joined the ranks of globally benchmarked institutions after attaining the ISO/IEC 20000-1:2018 Certification for Information Technology Service Management (ITSM). In a statement issued on Tuesday, September 9, the banking regulator said the certification marks a significant step in its journey towards operational and service excellence.
“The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) announces that it has successfully attained the ISO/IEC 20000-1:2018 Certification for its Information Technology Service Management (ITSM),” CBK said.
“This prestigious certification demonstrates the Bank’s ongoing commitment to maintaining the highest standards of service excellence in its operations.” According to the apex bank, the certification process began in March 2023, under CBK’s 2021–2024 Strategic Plan, which emphasized operational excellence.
As the initiative advanced, it was seamlessly aligned with the Bank’s 2024–2027 Strategic Framework under the pillar of service excellence. By adopting the ISO/IEC 20000-1:2018 Standard, CBK has strengthened its strategic priorities of resilience, sustainability, digital transformation, and human capital development.
The certification demonstrates that the Bank can consistently deliver value through structured and internationally recognized service management processes.
“The adoption of the ISO/IEC 20000-1:2018 Standard further supports CBK’s strategic priorities of resilience, sustainability, digital transformation, and human capital development, by ensuring that the Bank consistently delivers value through structured, internationally recognised service management processes,” CBK added.
