Tension erupted at a PCEA Church in Kasarani, Nairobi, as it became chaotic during a service attended by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
The calm ambience was interrupted by a group of unidentified goons who suddenly emerged , demanding cash from the congregation. This caused panic among the worshippers and the police had to intervene.
According to eyewitnesses, a group of unruly youths barged into the church premises, caused commotion and began ordering for money from the attendees, moments later, security forces showed up clashing with the goons in efforts to restore order and provide security.
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was present during the mayhem but was immediately whisked away to safety by his securities.
The motive behind the disruption remains unknown, but speculations have it that it may be politically instigated.
However, concerned authorities are probing the matter to identify the goons and prevent such kind of happenings in the future.
