CIGGIE JOHNSON DEVASTATED BY 12-YEAR PATERNITY DNA SHOCK

Kenyan club host and content creator Ciggie Johnson is grappling with an unexpected paternity revelation after a DNA test allegedly showed that he is not the biological father of the 12-year-old girl he has raised since birth.

Ciggie, whose real name is Ciggie Okebiro, opened up about the painful discovery in an emotional video shared on social media on Saturday, October 3, 2026. The video captured a phone conversation between the entertainer and the girl's mother as they discussed the DNA results.

According to the reports, the mother told Ciggie that he had been “excluded as the biological father”, prompting him to demand a simpler explanation.

“Stop complicated English. DNA says I am not the father,” Ciggie said.

The revelation appeared to catch both parties off guard, with the mother reportedly saying she was also surprised by the outcome because she had believed the test would confirm Ciggie as the child's biological father.

Ciggie, visibly distressed, questioned whether the mother knew the identity of the girl's biological father and sought to establish what had happened after spending more than a decade believing he was raising his own child.

He also indicated that he wanted to obtain and personally examine the DNA report.

Ciggie says he spent 12 years providing for the girl

Beyond the shock of the result, Ciggie's biggest grievance appears to be the years he says he invested in raising the girl.

He said he had provided for her since birth, including paying school fees, rent, birthday expenses and other household needs. In a subsequent response to Kenyans who urged him to continue supporting the child, he claimed he had been spending more than KSh60,000 every month on her.

“I have been taking care of the girl for 12 years, paying fee and other bills. I spend over Ksh 60,000 monthly on her,” Ciggie said.

He further claimed that tensions with the girl's mother had intensified over financial demands.

According to Ciggie, the situation escalated after the mother moved the girl from a school where he had enrolled her to another institution with substantially higher fees. He said the previous school charged KSh32,000, while the new one cost KSh80,000.

“When I questioned her about the actions, she took me to court,” he said, adding that he had previously been taken before the Children's Court over his financial responsibilities.

Ciggie described his relationship with the family as toxic and said the DNA revelation had nevertheless brought him a sense of relief.

“The family has been toxic to me. After the DNA result, I feel relieved,” he said.

He also argued that since the girl's biological father was allegedly still alive, responsibility for establishing a relationship between the two should now fall on her mother.

“Bearing in mind that the father of the girl is still alive, let the girl’s mother take her to him so that they can bond. Whatever I have done is enough, let the rightful person continue from here,” Ciggie said.

The revelation has sparked a wider conversation about biological fatherhood, emotional bonds and the consequences of paternity disputes involving children who have already formed strong relationships with the men who raised them.

Radio presenter Alex Mwakideu urged Ciggie not to allow the controversy to erase the 12-year relationship he had built with the girl.

“Ciggie Johnson, my brother, don't listen to them. This is a one-on-one between me and you. I am a father of a 12-year-old daughter. Listen, bro, you have created a 12-year relationship with this girl. Nothing can take that away. That is special. You had been a dad to this girl; she calls you dad, and you called her daughter,” Mwakideu said.

He argued that the disagreements between the adults should not determine the relationship between Ciggie and the child.

“Bro, the mistakes of adults cannot be pinned on children. This is my honest opinion. I know I'm married and I live with my wife and kids, but even if I was to do a DNA test today, I can tell you for free, nothing can change how I feel about my daughters,” he added.

Mwakideu ultimately urged Ciggie to remain focused on the bond he had established with the girl.

“The issues you have are between you and the girl's mother, but between you and the girl... You have to man up, my brother. Don't listen to them,” he said.

Comedian and content creator Terence Creative similarly encouraged Ciggie to consider the relationship he had built with the child rather than allowing the DNA result to completely redefine fatherhood.

“DNA says she's not yours, but you're still her father,” Terence said.

Terence, who has previously spoken about his own experience of being raised by foster parents, argued that fatherhood can extend beyond biological connections.

Pastor Victor Kanyari also weighed in, encouraging Ciggie to consider whether some truths, although painful, could cause additional emotional harm if they completely dismantled existing family relationships.

Former nominated senator Millicent Omanga, however, focused on a different aspect of the saga — the decision to make the paternity dispute public.

“Some things should never become content,” Omanga said.

She warned that the 12-year-old should not be exposed to the intense scrutiny that has followed the viral discussion.

Her comments have shifted part of the debate from Ciggie's heartbreak and the question of biological fatherhood to the child's privacy and emotional wellbeing.

The controversy has also attracted commentary from media personality Oga Obinna and other Kenyans, with social media users taking sharply different positions. Some have sympathised with Ciggie and argued that he was deceived, while others have urged him not to abandon a child who has known him as her father for virtually her entire life.

Despite the widespread discussion, the reported DNA outcome remains based on Ciggie's public account and the video he shared. The full laboratory report has not been independently verified in the reports available so far.

It also remains unclear how the girl herself has processed the revelation and what Ciggie's future relationship with her will look like.

The case has nevertheless opened a difficult conversation about the difference between biological and emotional fatherhood — particularly when a child has spent years knowing and depending on someone as a parent.

For Ciggie, the discovery has brought an end to what he believed was a 12-year biological relationship. For the girl, however, the man she has known as her father remains the same person, regardless of what the DNA results may say.
