DONALD TRUMP HINTS POSSIBLE US INVOLVEMENT IN IRAN –ISRAEL CONFLICT

United States President Donald Trump has said that it is possible for the US to get involved in Israel’s military strikes against Iran and that there would be peace soon.  This comes after reports that Israel has urged the US to join the conflict with Iran to eliminate its nuclear program, but Trump declined to comment on whether Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a personal plea for the US to get more involved. He also shared that he had a lengthy call with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss the conflict in the Middle East. Israel and Iran exchanged heavy aerial assaults for three days straight, with casualties mounting following Israel’s large scale attacks aimed at crippling Iran’s nuclear and military infrastructure and sparking retaliation.

A number of US aerial refueling aircraft, including 12 KC-135s and 4 KC-46s, were spotted flying east over the United States, heading towards the Middle East and were accompanied by multiple Gulfstream command and control jets, indicating preparations for a significant military operation.

Steve Witkoff, the president’s special envoy, was set to travel to Oman on Sunday for another round of nuclear talks with Iranian officials, but following Israel’s strikes, Iran called of the meeting. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi termed nuclear negotiations unjustifiable after the attacks, which he said were carried out with the support of the US. Trump said that something like the clash between Israel and Iran had to happen to spur talks on a nuclear agreement.

The president who stated he gave Iran a 60-day ultimatum to make a deal said he is not setting a new deadline. Iranian Foreign Minister told a meeting of ambassadors in Tehran on Sunday that Israel’s ongoing attacks on the country could not have happened without the agreement and support of the United States. He also insisted that Iranian officials do not believe the US claim the it had no involvement. Despite the halted talks over Iran’s nuclear program, the president expressed optimism that the strikes will bring Iran to the table quickly.
