Education CS Ogamba Presides Over Launch of KPC’s Inuka Scholarship for Learners with Disabilities

Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba has officiated the launch of the Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) Foundation’s Inuka Scholarship Programme, an initiative designed to enhance educational opportunities for learners with disabilities across Kenya.

The launch took place on April 7, at the Kenya Institute of Special Education(KISE) in Nairobi. The programme, which began in 2017, has so far supported over 745 students from every county, offering assistance such as tuition, school supplies, uniforms, and assistive devices. It has now expanded to cover tertiary education.

Speaking at the event, CS Ogamba applauded KPC Foundation’s commitment to inclusive education, describing the initiative as a meaningful step towards empowering learners with disabilities.

He emphasized that access to education remains a significant challenge for many children living with disabilities and called for broader partnerships to bridge the gap.

Ogamba referenced national data indicating that more than 11% of children aged three to 21 in Kenya live with disabilities, many of whom face systemic barriers in accessing quality education.

He noted that the Inuka programme complements government initiatives such as the Elimu Scholarship, which continues to support vulnerable students across the country.

Also present was Energy CS Opiyo Wandayi, who commended KPC for going beyond its core mandate to impact lives positively. KPC Managing Director Joe Sang and Nominated Senator Crystal Asige were among other leaders in attendance, all echoing support for efforts aimed at ensuring no learner is left behind.

The expanded Inuka Scholarship Programme reinforces the push for inclusive and equitable education, giving hope to many learners who have traditionally been underserved.
