"From Custody to Coffin: Outrage as Influencer Albert Ojwang Dies in Police Hands"
Nairobi, Kenya — A wave of public outrage is sweeping across Kenya following the suspicious death of popular X influencer Albert Ojwang, less than 24 hours after being arrested by DCI officers in Migori.
Ojwang was reportedly picked up on Saturday afternoon, transported to Nairobi, and booked at Central Police Station that evening. By Sunday morning, he was dead.
According to police, Ojwang “injured himself during the night” while in custody and died while being rushed to Mbagathi Hospital. The explanation has sparked widespread skepticism, given Kenya’s troubled history of police brutality, cover-ups, and unaccountable state power.
“This is becoming a horrifying pattern,” said one human rights lawyer. “Citizens are not safe, even in the hands of those sworn to protect them.”
Activists and online users are demanding an independent investigation, the release of CCTV footage, and a transparent autopsy. Ojwang’s sudden death adds to a growing list of Kenyans who have disappeared or died in police custody under mysterious circumstances, fueling accusations of a rogue justice system corrupted by impunity.
As Kenya reels from this latest incident, many are asking: Who’s next? And who will be held to account?
