A section of Mt Kenya politicians allied to former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua say they are eagerly waiting for President William Ruto, whom they will put to task over key issues regarding the region.
The president is scheduled to return to the region on a working tour after months of being a no-show, this after his fallout with Gachagua, which culminated in the latter's impeachment.
On Thursday, March 20, the president hosted a section of elected leaders from Mt Kenya at State House, Nairobi, for preparations for his first-ever visit to the region after Gachagua's impeachment.
Murang'a senator Joe Nyutu, a stalwart of the former deputy president, said he would attend Ruto's rallies and seek the chance to address him on certain matters.
Being his first visit ever since Gachaua was ousted from office, Nyutu said the president will have to explain why he ditched his former deputy despite his sacrifices and commitments in the 2022 vote to help him become president.
On his part, Gatanga MP Edward Muriu cautioned the president against enticing the Mt Kenya people with development projects yet the ones he launched in the past stalled.
