GACHAGUA WEEPS FOR THE TAXPAYERS

Former DP, Rigathi Gachagua has expressed the pain and struggles of taxpayers as Kenya marks the 60th Labour day.

In his statement , dated, Thursday, May 1, Gachagua highlighted that Kenyans continue to suffer under high cost of living, increased taxation and reduced wages .

“As we mark the 60th Labour Day celebration, the story of the Kenyan worker is the same: unspeakable pain, anguish, and utter frustration. We know no Kenyan worker is happy, and to wish them such is only additional pain," he stated.

The former second in command furthered blasted the government of burdening Kenyans with heavy taxation as the collected funds are directed towards bribing crowds to attend public gatherings.

“The payslip has been raided for uncouth cause, cost of living skyrockets unbearably, and zero money in circulation as the powers that be trot the globe using public resources, while at home, taxpayers’ money is used to bribe leaders and the public to attend public gatherings,” he added.

He continued urging Kenyans to keep up with the hard work, affirming that the misery is temporary.

“My message to the Kenyan workers as we mark Labour Day is that as they struggle to make ends meet, they should take comfort that this situation is not permanent.

Gachagua also assured that, they are committed to see that President Ruto's regime is short lived and the dignity of the taxpayer upheld.
“I assure you that we are a team of patriotic men and women not sleeping, working on strategies to do away with misery, pain, and indignation; we shall restore the dignity of the payslip. God willing, we shall get there,” he promised.

His remarks comes moments after the Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary-General, Francis Atwoli, at Uhuru Gardens , Nairobi urged President Ruto's government, to reconsider amending a law that would see statutory deductions on basic salary rather than in the gross amount.
