Kenya’s Gen Z movement has rolled out a structured timetable outlining daily activities leading up to a major nationwide protest scheduled for Wednesday, June 25, 2025. The planned demonstrations aim to honor the memory of victims who died during last year’s anti-Finance Bill protests and to call for justice and accountability from the government.
According to People Daily, the youth-led movement has designed a series of thematic events that began on Monday, June 17, and will culminate in a grand nationwide action.
On Friday, June 20, members of the Muslim community across the country are expected to hold peaceful marches and offer prayers for justice. The following day, Saturday, June 21, Seventh-Day Adventist congregations will observe the Sabbath while also dedicating sermons and peaceful demonstrations to the theme of justice.
Sunday, June 22, appears to have been left open, with no official activity mentioned so far.
The program resumes on Monday, June 23, with what organizers have described as a "rest day"—likely a strategic pause before the final two days of mobilization.
Then on Tuesday, June 24, demonstrators will gather in Nairobi for a silent vigil outside Parliament. Protesters are expected to maintain a quiet presence throughout the day, with no speeches or sessions scheduled. Organizers have issued a clear warning to politicians to stay away from the event, reinforcing the apolitical nature of the movement.
The highlight of the week is set for Wednesday, June 25, when a large-scale nationwide protest will take place. The day will include public prayers at Uhuru Park and coordinated digital activism, with hashtags like #Justice4OurMashujaa, #NeverForgetKE, and #FagiaWote expected to trend as part of the campaign. Organizers say the protests are not only a tribute to those who lost their lives in 2024 but also a renewed call for deep systemic reforms.
