ODM party national chairperson Gladys Wanga has informed party members that the political party will not disintegrate even if their leader Raila Odinga passes away.
Wanga called on the members of the party to be cohesive, saying they will stick together and move forward as a team.
Speaking at the World Food at Kendu Bay Show Ground, Wanga says ODM will hold its 20th anniversary as earlier planned in Mombasa without any interruption.
Members of the ODM in the governorship, Wanga said, should use the party to negotiate for political deals ahead of the 2027 general election.
Governor Wanga acknowledged the leadership of Siaya Senator Oburu Oginga who took oath of office as the acting party leader of ODM.
She indicated that ODM members in Homa Bay County will next Wednesday conduct a memorial service at Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay Town to mourn their party leader.
This comes after the party held a Central Management Committee meeting, where the ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna noted that the party will stand with Mr. Odinga's call for a unified nation and honor his determination to cooperate with the government.
Sifuna also added that it was also resolved during the CMC that memorial services will be held nationwide as they mourn the late ODM leader Mr. Odinga.
Memorial events shall be in Magarini, Kilifi County on 2nd and 3rd November before shifting to Homabay and Migori on 5th and 6th.
He maintained that the scheduled 20th party anniversary celebrations shall still proceed from the 14th to 16th "accompanied by events for strengthening the unity and solidarity in the party".
