GOVERNMENT TO TRACK CIVIL SERVANTS WORK HOURS VIA APP

Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku has announced that the government will begin tracking civil servants’ attendance and work hours through a mobile application.
Speaking in Embu, Ruku said the digital system will record when employees report to and leave work, as well as manage leave applications in real time. He noted the move is aimed at improving efficiency, accountability, and transparency in public service.
The CS revealed that the app will be rolled out by the end of October, terming it a “game changer” in curbing absenteeism. He also cautioned that lateness and laxity will no longer be tolerated, citing instances where some civil servants had to be locked out for reporting late.
The government says the initiative will ensure taxpayers get value for money by strengthening discipline among public officers. However, questions have already been raised over data privacy and how the system will be enforced.
