Kenyan singer, songwriter, and performer Juliet Miriam Ayub popularly known as Jovial has opened up about the less glamorous side of pregnancy, revealing that she went an entire week without bathing during her first trimester. The honest admission was shared on her Instagram stories, where she detailed the struggles she faced while expecting her child. In her posts, Jovial admitted that the early stages of pregnancy were far from easy. She explained that while she didn’t develop body odour thanks to her upbringing in Mombasa where water is used sparingly she still felt embarrassed by the situation. Instead of bathing, she resorted to using body spray and changing her clothes daily to stay fresh.
The pregnancy struggles didn’t stop at showering. Jovial also confessed that brushing her teeth became a nightmare due to morning sickness. To cope, she found alternatives like salt and charcoal powder to maintain oral hygiene. In a follow-up post, Jovial encouraged other expectant mothers to be kind to themselves. She added that while she now manages to stay active cooking, cleaning, and even slaying with her bump she remembers a time when she completely withdrew from social media because of how overwhelming it was.
Jovial emphasized the role of a strong support system in navigating pregnancy challenges. She emphasized that motherhood isn’t always picture-perfect, and that’s perfectly normal. Fans praised her for keeping it real, with many sharing their own pregnancy struggles in the comments. Jovial’s honesty is a refreshing reminder that even the most glamorous influencers face messy, unfiltered moments too.
