JUDICIARY CONDOLES WITH ALBERT OJWANG’S FAMILY

The Judiciary through their spokesperson Paul Ndemo has issued a statement expressing sympathy to the family of blogger Albert Ojwang’ who died while in police custody and further wished a quick recovery to Kenyans who were injured during protests.

“The events of the past weeks have tested the conscience of our nation. The Judiciary extends its deepest condolences to the family of Albert Ojwang’. We also wish a quick and full recovery to those who have been injured during recent protests.’’

It has addressed the increasing cases of police brutality in the country and the trend of protesters being attacked by goons who disrupt peaceful assemblies. Ndemo added that the National Police Service(NPS) has the responsibility to identify and take further action on the perpetrators and those who sponsor such violence.

The spokesperson added that the judiciary has reaffirmed its commitment to its constitutional mandate of upholding justice once the cases are presented to court. He says that all related cases will be handled with impartiality and urgency, with full adherence to the Constitution and the principles of the rule of law.
