Kabogo Defends His Nomination

Former Kiambu County Governor William Kabogo appeared before the National Assembly committee on appointments today for vetting, following his nomination for the position of a cabinet secretary in the Ministry of Information, Communication and Digital Economy. His nomination came following vacancy in the Ministry, owing to the exit of former ICT Cs Margaret Ndung'u.
Kabogo, who previously served as the Member of Parliament for Juja Constituency, defended his nomination, sighting the work he did during his Kiambu gubernatorial tenure.
"Why I think this is a good job for me is that I managed while at Kiambu to digitize the entire revenue collection in the county, " he said.

However, old ghosts seemed to haunt Kabogo when he was questioned about his relationship with drugs. In December 2010, the then Minister for internal security Prof. George Saitoti presented a dossier before the parliament, which named four Members of Parliament who were suspected to be drug traffickers.
Kabogo, who featured in the list distanced himself from drugs, saying that he has never dealt with drugs in his entire life.
