Peter Kaluma has strongly reacted to remarks made by Kisii Governor Simba Arati regarding the political alliance between the Abagusii and Luo communities.
His response came after Simba Arati reportedly told the Gusii community that they should support Raila Odinga because their votes alone were not enough to make Fred Matiang’i president.
Arati emphazised that the Luo community had 3.5 million votes compared to the 700,000 from the Gusii community, urging his people to back Odinga.
Kaluma took to social media platform X to set the record straight. He insisted that the Abagusii and Luo communities are like family and have always been politically united.
According to him, the bond between the two communities goes beyond elections and has been strong for many years.
He argued that a few young and inexperienced politicians were the ones trying to create unnecessary division by making statements that could mislead the people.
He urged the people to ignore divisive remarks and focus on maintaining their long-standing political relationship.
Kaluma’s remarks suggest that any attempt to separate the two communities politically will not succeed.
