KARIOBANGI NORTH MCA, JOEL MUNUVE DIES

Kariobangi North and the Nairobi County Assembly are in a somber mood following the tragic death of Kariobangi North MCA, Joel Munuve on Tuesday , 22, April morning, after experiencing chest pains on his way to work.

Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Kenedy Ngondi , confirmed that Munuve was rushed to hospital , upon complaining of chest pains and later collapsed and passed away on arrival.

“He suddenly collapsed and passed away this morning,” Ng’ondi said.

The deceased MCA was rushed to AAR Hospital , along Kiambu road, for treatment, where he suddenly died. However, the AAR Hospital clarified that Munuve was pronounced dead on arrival at 10.30 am.

Ng'ondi eulogized Muneve as a leader committed in service to his people.

“His relentless commitment to the people of Kariobangi North and greater public service will be remembered with great respect and admiration,” the Speaker said.

“We mourn not only the loss of the colleague but also the brother whose presence enriched the institution and uplifted many,” he continued.

President William Ruto also joined in honouring the MCA,

“He was hardworking, progressive and with fresh ideas that changed the lives of many people,” he said.

Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai, Munuve's close ally followed suit asking for follow up to be done , on the cause of this untimely death.

“From the assembly, we are still giving the family time to come to terms with the demise so that we can address this later,” Alai said.

Munuve, was elected as an independent candidate after being denied nomination by Azimio la Umoja and was known for his vocal stance on accountable governance.

He also publicly challenged decisions made by the Nairobi County Government, questioning Nairobi governor, Johnson Sakaja over Nairobi's waste management and garbage collection.

He also attempted to collect signatures to impeach Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja in 2023.
