KENDU BAY BRIDGE CLOSED TODAY FOR URGENT
The Kanyadhiang’ Bridge in Kendu Bay has been temporarily closed today, June 14, 2025, to allow for urgent repair works on the approach slab.
The County Government of Homa Bay, in collaboration with the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA), announced the closure, stating that while the main structure of the bridge remains stable and safe, immediate attention was required to address structural concerns.
“We would like to assure all road users that while repair works are being carried out on the approach slab, the bridge’s main framework remains completely safe and stable,” said Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga in a statement.
KeNHA teams are already on-site and have begun the repair process, with the aim of restoring normal operations as quickly as possible.
Motorists heading toward Kendu Bay have been advised to use a diversion route through Goshen Hotel, Oluch Intake Bridge, and Nyangajo Primary School, then reconnect via Obama Road. Those coming from the Homa Bay side will follow the reverse path.
The county government has called on all road users to cooperate with traffic police and marshals stationed along the diversion route and has apologised for any inconvenience caused by the closure.
Normal traffic is expected to resume once the repair works are completed.
