KENHA ANNOUNCES ONE-MONTH TRAFFIC DISRUPTION IN KISUMU

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a month-long traffic disruption along a key section of the A1 Road in Kisumu to pave way for road construction works.
In a statement issued Tuesday August 5, 2025, KeNHA said the affected stretch runs from Kisumu Boys Roundabout through Patels Roundabout and Kondele to Mamboleo Roundabout. The disruption will begin on Thursday, August 7 and continue until Friday, September 5, 2025.
“Traffic will be diverted to one side of the dual carriageway to allow for safe and efficient execution of the ongoing road improvement works,” the authority said.
Motorists are advised to follow designated diversion routes, including Gumbi Lane, St. Leonidas, Patels Roundabout, Kondele, Neo Roundabout, Migos Road, and Odiek Road. KeNHA also urged road users to cooperate with traffic marshals and enforcement officers stationed along the affected route.
The road agency assured the public that signage and traffic maps will be placed along the route to guide drivers.
The project is part of ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure in Kisumu County, enhance mobility, and reduce traffic congestion within the city.
