KENHA ANNOUNCES TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF RIRONI/KAMANDURA INTERCHANGE

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a two-month traffic disruption affecting motorists using Waiyaki Way, Limuru Road, and Mai Mahiu Road, due to the temporary closure of the Rironi/Kamandura Interchange. In a statement released on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, KeNHA confirmed that the interchange will be closed from Friday, August 22, to Friday, October 31, 2025. The closure is intended to facilitate the reconstruction of the Rironi/Kamandura Interchange, including associated slip roads, loops, and approach roads. KeNHA urged motorists to use alternative routes during this period. Those travelling from Waiyaki Way to Mai Mahiu are advised to divert to the Old Naivasha Road just after Rubis Tilisi and continue straight to Mai Mahiu.

Motorists heading from Mai Mahiu to Nairobi should turn at Mutarakwa Junction onto Limuru Road and rejoin Waiyaki Way at the Kwa Mbira Flyover. Traffic from Ruaka, Ndenderu, or Kabuku should proceed to Limuru Town and join the A8 Highway at the same Kwa Mbira Flyover. The Authority also emphasized the need for caution while navigating this section of the road and urged road users to follow the traffic management plan and obey posted road signs. Police officers and traffic marshals will be deployed to assist with traffic flow during the construction period.
