The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has issued a public notice regarding the temporary closure of the Nairobi bound carriageway on the A8 Road, between FUSO (Simba Colt) and the Southern Bypass Interchange (Ole Sereni). According to a notice dated June 28, 2025, KeNHA Director General Eng. Ndungu stated that the affected section will be closed from Saturday, July 5, 2025, to Saturday, July 12,2025, to allow essential maintenance works. During the period, heavy vehicles exceeding 3.5 tons and motorists heading to the Southern Bypass will be directed to exit the highway at the Kyang’ombe Slip Road and proceed via Old Mombasa Road. Other vehicles will continue using a single lane that will remain operational along the affected section.
KeNHA has also announced another temporary traffic disruption at the intersection of A8 (Waiyaki Way), Southern Bypass, and Western Bypass due to the reconstruction of the South Western Interchange Ramp, loops, and slip roads. The closure will last for 45 days, from Saturday, June 28,2025, to Monday, August 11, 2025. During the period traffic from A8 to the Southern Bypass will be diverted via the E1507(Kikuyu Link Road) at the Sigona Golf Club junction, approximately 1.5km from the current intersection. Vehicles travelling from Nakuru to the Southern Bypass will use the newly constructed Southeastern Loop and a diversion created at the Southern Bypass median.
