Kenya Airways has announced Teresia Mbaika, the Principal Secretary of the State Department for Aviation and Aerospace Development, as the new director representing the Ministry of Roads and Transport on its Board. In a notice issued on 22 July, 2025, Kenya Airways’ Company Secretary, Habil A. Waswani, confirmed that Mbaika’s appointment is an institutional and corporate directorship, taking over from Transport PS Mohamed Daghar. Before her current role, Mbaika served as the PS for the State Department for Devolution until President William Ruto’s Cabinet reshuffle in March 2025.
She brings extensive board experience, having served a six-year term at the Nuclear Power and Energy Agency(NuPEA), where she chaired key committees including the Technical, Audit, and Human Resource Committees, and was a member of the Publicity & Advocacy Committee. Additionally, she was a Board Member at the National Environmental Management Authority(NEMA) for three years, leading the Technical, Finance, and Administration Committees while also serving on the Audit Committee.
From 2013 to 2017, Mbaika was Secretary to the National Government Constituency Development Fund(NG-CDF) Board for Kaiti Constituency, where she provided strategic oversight in financial management and governance. Mbaika holds a Master of Science in Health Economics and Policy from the University of Nairobi and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health from Kenyatta University. She has also participated in multiple training programs and conferences in leadership, corporate governance, and the energy sector.
