Kenya’s breathtaking landscapes have set the stage for international star Priyanka Chopra, who teamed up with Bollywood heavyweights Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran in a high-profile film directed by award - winning Bollywood filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli.

The country is expected to bag upto a whooping $116 million (Ksh14.9 billion) - quoted as one of the grandest projects to emerge from Asia’s film industry.

Recently , Priyanka Chopra , Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran landed in the country for the shoot. Chopra plays the lead female role in the film, which blends high-stakes adventure, mystery, and breathtaking landscapes in the tradition of globe-spanning classics.

The plot follows Mahesh Babu as a daring explorer on a mission through treacherous environments, where he confronts both natural and human challenges in pursuit of a powerful ancient secret.

The Kenyan Maasai Mara, Samburu, Naivasha, and Amboseli provided a backdrop for almost all of the African sequences. A 120-member crew worked on location for two weeks, a move that funneled millions into the local economy through tourism, hospitality, transport, and support services.

During her stay, Chopra posted snippets from the set and also sampled some of Kenya’s most famous tourist destinations.

Rajamouli met with Prime Cabinet Secretary and Foreign Affairs CS Musalia Mudavadi on Tuesday , 2, September.
Mudavadi welcomed the production as a chance for Kenya to tell its story to the world and to solidify its place as a film and tourism hub.

The film is slated for release in more than 120 countries and is projected to reach over a billion viewers worldwide. Its first teaser is expected to drop in November.

This is not the first time Kenya has hosted an Indian film crew. In 2019, director Raj Kumar shot Love in Mombasa along the Coast. Hollywood productions such as Tomb Raider and The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind have also showcased Kenya’s scenery to global audiences.

With GlobeTrotter, Kenya’s profile in the international film industry continues to rise, reinforcing its reputation as a destination where storytelling meets spectacular landscapes.
