LIGHT AIRCRAFT CRASHES IN MWIHOKO, BURSTS INTO FLAMES

A light aircraft crashed into residential buildings and burst into flames in the Dagama area of Mwihoko on Thursday afternoon, sparking panic among residents and emergency response teams.

According to eyewitness reports, the aircraft was flying over the area when it suddenly came down, crashing into an unoccupied building and damaging nearby power lines. The impact caused an explosion that ignited a large fire, visible from a distance.

Residents rushed to the scene and launched rescue efforts before military personnel and first responders arrived. Images and videos widely circulated online show flames engulfing the wreckage, with military officials seen attempting to extinguish the blaze.

"The flames were intense, and people had to stay back. We tried to help but couldn’t get close," one eyewitness said.

While the number of casualties remains unconfirmed, authorities have yet to issue an official statement. Neither the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) nor the
National Police Service had commented publicly by the time of publication.

The crash also affected local power infrastructure, as the aircraft reportedly brought down an electric line during impact. Investigations are expected to be launched to determine the cause of the crash and assess the full extent of the damage.
