A fire incident that broke out at Kichinjio area in Kibra Sub-County has left more than 200 families homeless, with homes and businesses reduced to ashes.
According to witnesses who spoke to *Citizen Digital*, the blaze erupted unexpectedly, quickly spreading through the densely populated settlement. Several business premises were also destroyed in the inferno, leaving many residents counting heavy losses.
Efforts to contain the fire were significantly delayed as narrow access roads prevented fire engines from reaching the scene in time. Residents were forced to rely on makeshift means, including buckets of water, to try and control the flames.
Authorities have confirmed that no injuries or fatalities were reported, despite the scale of destruction.
The incident comes just weeks after a similar fire in the area, raising concerns over the recurring nature of such disasters in informal settlements. Many affected families are now in urgent need of shelter, food, and other essential support.
Local leaders and humanitarian agencies have been urged to intervene and provide assistance as recovery efforts begin.
