Divine Providence Children’s Home (Alberto's) in Kakamega County celebrated Eid in style after receiving a special visit from the Ujamaa Welfare Benevolent Group. The group, demonstrating their generosity and compassion, donated foodstuffs and clothing to the orphanage.
The visitors were warmly received by Sister Linet Kwena, the Sister-in-Charge, who expressed her gratitude for their kindness. The orphanage is run by the Benedictine Sisters of Divine Providence, whose headquarters are in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The sisters manage multiple orphanages across various Third World countries, providing shelter and care to vulnerable children.
According to Sister Kwena, while the orphanage receives some financial support from their head office in Brazil, their daily survival is largely dependent on divine providence and the generosity of well-wishers. "Somehow, every day we manage to survive and have enough food to feed over 100 hungry mouths," she stated with unwavering faith.
Among the children at the orphanage, there was a notable sense of joy and excitement. One young girl eagerly shared her feelings about the visit, saying, "I’m so excited today for the gesture. It gives a new meaning to our lives."
Speaking on behalf of Ujamaa Welfare, Mr. Hassan Musa praised the children and encouraged them to uphold discipline and work hard towards a brighter future. He also called upon well-wishers to continue supporting orphanages, emphasizing that such acts of kindness reflect love and care for these children.
The visit was a humbling and life-changing experience that left an indelible mark on the hearts of the children. It is moments like these that inspire hope and remind us all of the power of kindness and generosity in transforming lives.
