Rarieda Member of Parliament Otiende Amollo has announced plans to introduce a motion to disqualify former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua from holding public office in Kenya. He accuses Gachagua of engaging in divisive politics, stating that he failed to reform after he was impeached in 2024.
The MP further argued that Parliament could enforce constitutional provisions to permanently bar Gachagua from running any elected position. Gachagua who has been actively campaigning against his former boss, President William Ruto, has faced criticism for allegedly promoting tribalism. Both Kenya Kwanza coalition leaders and supporters of the broad based government have condemned him of fueling ethnic divisions.
