Over 300 students at Kiamwasi Technical Training Institute (TTI) in Kitutu Chache have been left stranded after the institution was shut down by a contractor due to unpaid bills. The closure has disrupted learning, leaving students in limbo with no clear direction on when classes will resume.
According to sources, the contractor, who was responsible for key infrastructure at the institution, locked the school premises, demanding payment for services rendered. This action has forced students to remain outside the campus, unable to access classrooms, dormitories, and other essential facilities.
One affected student expressed frustration over the situation, saying, “We came here to learn, but now we are just stuck outside with no information on what happens next. We urge the administration to resolve this issue quickly.”
Parents and guardians have also voiced concerns over the disruption, calling on the government to intervene and ensure that students do not lose valuable learning time. “The authorities should step in and settle this matter. It is unfair for students to suffer because of financial disputes,” said a concerned parent.
School officials have yet to issue an official statement, but reports indicate that discussions are ongoing to resolve the matter. Meanwhile, students remain uncertain about their academic future, anxiously waiting for a solution that will allow them to return to their studies.
