POLICE ARREST PATIENT IN SHOCKING DOUBLE MURDER AT KNH

Homicide detectives have arrested the prime suspect linked to the mysterious deaths of two patients at Kenyatta National Hospital. Kennedy Kalombotole was taken into custody following the brutal killing of Edward Maingi Ndegwa, who had been admitted to Ward 7B on July 11, 2025. According to the hospital’s management, Ndegwa was found dead in the afternoon, shortly after visiting hours, with his body soaked in blood-stained beddings, causing widespread panics in the ward. The hospital immediately alerted security agencies, who responded by securing the scene and transporting the body, launching an investigation into the incident.

Preliminary findings indicated that the ward nurse last checked on the patient at 11.30 am to take his blood pressure. A relative then visited around 12.30 pm and found him in stable condition, leaving an hour later. At about 2:00 pm, a cleaner noticed blood oozing from the patient’s neck.  Detectives responding to the scene observed bloody slipper prints trailing from the victim’s bedside to a nearby toilet and eventually leading to a side room where Kalombotole was admitted. Inside the room, investigators recovered a pair of blue slippers and a blood stained bedsheet.

Additionally, directly below the 7th floor window of the deceased’s ward, they discovered a knife wrapped in gloves. All recovered items have been sent to the National Forensic Laboratory for analysis to support the case. Investigators have also revealed that Kalombotole, who has been admitted at the facility since December 1st of last year, is the main suspect in a previous murder case, the killing of Gilbert Kinyua Muthoni, 40, in ward 7C during the night of February 6th 2025. Kalombotole was taken into police custody and is currently undergoing processing pending arraignment in court.
