President Ruto's third day of the 5-day Mt Kenya tour started at the Sagana State Lounge, Nyeri , where he hosted a section of women from the Mathira , Nyeri, for morning breakfast. This session was organised to honour the late Ann Wanjiru Mumbuchi (Muchiru), a beloved community grassroot leader who passed away last Sunday, March 30.
She is best remembered for guiding the 1,000-member Mathira Women Choir with ardent dedication.
Muchiru also played a critical role in community leadership and grassroots mobilization since the 1980s, bringing a significant impact on local development politics.
Ruto recognised her dedication on matters, women empowerment and community development.
The meeting went on well, with the president addressing the concerns of the residents until it was interrupted by a surprising blackout, power shut.
Officials went on working on the issue to calm the guests who were left worried and confused. After some moment , power was back and they explained that it was caused by normal technical hitches and not a planned, sabotage, as per rumours and speculations.
Later on, Kenya Power got in touch and apologised, attributing the blackout to minor mistakes, We apologize for the inconvenience. Our team responded quickly, and power was restored."
Despite the interruptions, the rest of the event went smooth, President carrying on with his speech.
