President William Ruto has broken his silence over the Butere Girls controversial play, 'Echoes of War ', stating that his administration will not allow children to be used to drive politically instigated motives, specially in means that may plant seeds of resentment towards their country.
During an interdenominational church sunday service in Kapng’etik , Elgeyo Marakwet County, Ruto stressed his commitment to enhance the children both academically and talent wise.
“We are investing in education because education is what sharpens our human capital, the most important asset that we have as a nation,” he stated.
“That is the reason why we are deploying resources in our schools, in our TVETs, in our universities—because we want to make sure that we harness the potential that exists in our human resource. And we must give every child an opportunity to be the best they can be,” The Head of State said.
Ruto further issued a clarion call urging for the protection of children against negative influencers, who teach them on contempt to the authority.
“We must equally protect all our children from paedophiles, from drug peddlers and from those who want to corrupt our children and teach them to hate their parents, teachers, leaders or their nation,” he said.
“We must protect our children from those ones, but we must give all our children the best opportunity to be what they can be," Ruto added.
This remarks by the President seemed to be directed to former UDA secretary general, Cleophas Malala , who was allegedly the play writer of the controversial 'Echoes of War' ,which drew a dramatic showdown upon its performance by Butere girls.
