PROF MAKAU MUTUA HONORED GLOBALLY

Professor Makau Mutua, who currently serves as President William Ruto’s Constitutional Affairs Advisor, has been recognized as a 2024 Top Scholar by ScholarGPS, a global platform that tracks and ranks academic performance across various disciplines.

According to a notification from ScholarGPS, Prof. Mutua was acknowledged for his “outstanding performance” and “strong publication record,” placing him in the top 0.5% of scholars worldwide. The rankings are based on a database of over 30 million scholar profiles and 120,000 academic institutions.

Prof. Mutua received notable global rankings in two fields:295th in General Law and 46th in Human Rights.

ScholarGPS classifies its top honorees into two categories: Highly Ranked Scholars, representing the top 0.05%, and Top Scholars, representing the top 0.5%. Prof. Mutua was named in the latter category.

This latest recognition adds to Prof. Mutua’s extensive academic career, including his previous roles as Dean and professor at the University at Buffalo School of Law, part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system.
