PROTESTERS BURN DOWN MAWEGO POLICE STATION WHILE CARRYING ALBERT OJWANG’S  COFFIN

Tensions escalated dramatically on Thursday 3rd July,2025 as enraged protesters stormed Mawego Police Station and set it ablaze during a heated demonstration over the death of Albert Ojwang.
The demonstrators, who carried a coffin believed to contain Ojwang’s remains, accused police officers of being involved in his controversial death. Chanting slogans and waving placards, the crowd marched through local roads before descending on the station, overpowering officers and torching the facility.
Eyewitnesses say the protesters breached the premises before dousing parts of the station with petrol and igniting it. Thick plumes of black smoke were seen billowing into the sky as residents watched in shock.
Albert Ojwang’s death has sparked outrage, with community members alleging foul play and demanding justice. His family maintains that he was last seen in police custody under unclear circumstances.
Police reinforcements have since been deployed to the area as authorities work to restore order. No injuries or arrests have been confirmed so far.
