RAILA DEFENDS HIS MEN AMID UDA-ODM FALLOUT.

Former Prime minister, Raila Odinga has defended his henchmen, Kisumu governor , Anyang’ Nyong’o and his Siaya counterpart James Orengo amid rising tensions between UDA and ODM over President Ruto's handling of devolution.

Speaking during the late Preskila Koyo's funeral at Homabay, Odinga emphasized that there was no coalition between UDA and ODM but their alliance was bent on a signed Memorandum of Understanding ( MoU) , which addressed the needs of the nation.

Odinga went on backing Orengo's criticizing the government, stating that it his democratic right as per the MoU.

He also supported governor Nyong’o's stand in criticizing Ruto's administration of allegedly paralyzing devolution, specially over the road fund management in its relation to county government.

The MoU was signed on March 7, 2025, which saw ODM leaders and Ruto's administration forming a power sharing, broad based government.

However, Orengo has been criticizing this political outfit, alleging that some ODM leaders are growing too loyal to Ruto.

These criticisms have led to a surge of negative reactions from UDA leaders, Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei, included, who defended Ruto’s commitment to devolved systems, dismissing Nyong'o and Orengo as saboteurs.
