RAILA DEFENDS RUTO ALLIANCE, TELLS CRITICS TO WAIT FOR 2027

ODM leader Raila Odinga has defended his political alliance with President William Ruto, dismissing criticism over claims that the current administration is a “one-term government.”
Speaking during the burial of Dr. Phoebe Asiyo in Homa Bay County on Friday, August 8, 2025, Raila urged Kenyans to judge the partnership at the ballot in 2027.
“To the naysayers, give us space and judge us in 2027. This is going to last till 2027, after that we’ll see where we’ll go. If you’re saying one term, one term…so what? It’s Kenyans who will decide the term,” Raila said.
He emphasized that the broad-based government formed through the Ruto–ODM pact is working to implement a ten-point Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two sides. A five-member committee, including Gabriel Oguda and Agnes Zani, has been appointed to oversee the rollout of recommendations from the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report, focusing on areas such as devolution, youth empowerment, integrity in leadership, inclusivity, and national sovereignty.
Raila maintained that the alliance will be judged on its performance rather than political speculation, saying ODM’s identity and strength remain intact ahead of the 2027 General Election.
