Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez have given fans their first glimpse of their wedding rings after quietly getting married in Portugal, marking a new chapter in their relationship after nearly a decade together.

The couple confirmed the marriage on social media with a close-up photograph of their hands intertwined, showing off their wedding bands. Ronaldo accompanied the picture with a short message celebrating Georgina as his wife, while the image quickly attracted millions of reactions from fans around the world.

The private civil ceremony reportedly took place in Cascais, Portugal, on Tuesday, August 11, exactly a year after Georgina announced their engagement.

Unlike the lavish celebrations often associated with the football superstar and his longtime partner, the wedding was kept away from the public eye. Reports indicate that the occasion was intimate, with the couple's five children among those present.

While attention immediately turned to the newly revealed wedding bands, Georgina's enormous engagement ring remained the standout piece.

The Spanish-Argentine model wore a slim yellow-gold wedding band on her left ring finger, while her large engagement ring was moved to her right hand.

Jewellery experts had previously suggested that fitting a conventional wedding band alongside Georgina's engagement ring would be difficult because of the engagement ring's unusually large three-stone design.

The engagement piece features a prominent oval centre diamond flanked by two smaller oval stones. Its size has been estimated by different outlets at between 25 and 37 carats, although the couple has never publicly confirmed its exact specifications or value.

Some estimates have placed its value in the multimillion-dollar range, with figures of up to $5 million circulating in entertainment and jewellery reports.

Rather than attempting to stack the two rings on the same finger, Georgina appears to have followed the solution jewellery experts had previously proposed — wearing the wedding band separately.

The newly revealed wedding bands are considerably more understated than Georgina's engagement ring.

Jewellery expert Brett Afshar of Queensmith estimated that the bands appear to be 18-karat gold, domed court-style rings measuring roughly 3mm in width. He put their estimated value at approximately £1,060 to £1,430 each.

The two bands appear to be yellow gold, with Ronaldo's ring looking broader than Georgina's slimmer version.

Georgina's choice to wear the engagement ring on her opposite hand could also have a practical advantage. If, as some experts believe, the engagement ring is made from platinum or white gold, keeping it separate from a softer yellow-gold wedding band could reduce friction and potential wear between the two pieces.

The result is a striking contrast: a relatively simple wedding band paired with one of the most eye-catching engagement rings associated with a celebrity couple.

Ronaldo and Georgina have been together since 2016, building a family life that has frequently attracted international attention while keeping some aspects of their relationship private.

Their engagement was announced by Georgina in August 2025, ending years of speculation about whether the couple would eventually marry.

The wedding announcement now confirms that the pair have taken that relationship a step further.

For Ronaldo and Georgina, however, the first public glimpse of their married life came without an elaborate ceremony or lengthy announcement. Instead, two hands, two gold bands and a brief message were enough to confirm that the longtime couple are now officially husband and wife.

And while Georgina's spectacular engagement ring continues to command attention, her decision to wear it separately from the wedding band has ensured that both pieces can stand on their own.
