RUTH ODINGA SLAMS RAILA, RUTO OVER SAKAJA’S FAILED IMPEACHMENT

Kisumu Woman Representative Ruth Odinga has condemned the intervention by President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga in the botched impeachment of Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja.
Speaking during a press briefing, Ruth faulted both leaders for interfering with the constitutional mandate of Nairobi Members of County Assembly (MCAs), who had initiated the process to oust Sakaja. She argued that the MCAs had valid concerns and the motion had garnered sufficient support to proceed.
“I feel disappointed that the process was stopped midway. The MCAs should have been allowed to table their grievances, and if necessary, let the Senate determine the governor’s fate,” she said.
Ruth further accused the leaders of undermining devolution and betraying Nairobi residents, insisting that oversight roles must be respected. Her remarks come days after Sakaja survived the impeachment motion following behind-the-scenes negotiations reportedly brokered by Raila and Ruto.
