RUTO PICKS NEW REGISTRAR OF POLITICAL PARTIES AFTER ANN NDERITU'S EXIT

President William Ruto has nominated career election official John Cox Lorionokou to serve as the new Registrar of Political Parties. The appointment follows the exit of Ann Nderitu, who recently joined the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) as a commissioner.

In the same announcement, the Head of State named Agatha Wanjiku Wahome as the Assistant Registrar of Political Parties. Both names were submitted to Parliament for approval after being recommended by the Public Service Commission (PSC).

The PSC had shortlisted candidates for the roles earlier this month, following the closure of the application period on 5 August 2025.

Lorionokou has worked at the IEBC since January 2010, serving as a Constituency Elections Coordinator, where he oversaw voter registration, election preparedness, and polling day operations.

Wahome is currently the Acting Director of Research, Electoral Boundaries, and Risk Management at the IEBC. Her previous duties have included serving as an Integrity Assurance Officer and Data Protection Officer, where she handled research, electoral reforms, and risk management strategies.

The two will now await parliamentary vetting before officially assuming office.
