The National Heroes Council has unveiled a list of 180 Kenyans proposed for recognition during this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations.
Among those set to be honoured are rising football star Ryan Ogam, celebrated for his standout performances with the Harambee Stars, and Mwanahamisi Hamadi, a veteran Citizen TV journalist renowned for championing Swahili culture and women’s empowerment through her award-winning show Mwanamke Bomba.
The council said the nominees were identified for their exceptional contributions in sports, media, culture and other fields. Members of the public have until September 30, 2025, to submit views or objections before the list is finalized.
The final roll of heroes and heroines will be officially recognized during Mashujaa Day celebrations on October 20, 2025.
